Dr Gaetano Cupo

Doctor Gaetano Cupo, an Italian ophthalmologist, specializes in a wide range of areas, including cataract surgery, refractive surgery, glaucoma treatment, and management of various retinal conditions.  

Currently, Dr Cupo plays a pivotal role as a specialist physician at the prestigious Campus Biomédico University Hospital in Rome. Additionally, since 2004, he has been a professor of Ophthalmology in the Nursing Degree program at the TorVergata University of Rome, sharing his expertise and educating future generations of healthcare professionals.  

Dr Cupo's academic achievements are noteworthy. He graduated with honours, cum laude, in Medicine and Surgery from the TorVergata University of Rome. Furthermore, he completed a Master's degree in Aesthetic Medicine at the same institution, demonstrating his commitment to aesthetic medicine and his comprehensive approach to ocular well-being. 

A pivotal stage in doctor Cupo's training was his specialization in ophthalmology under the renowned Professor Bucci, one of Italy's leading ophthalmologists. During this period, he obtained a specialization degree in Ophthalmology and had the privilege of closely collaborating with Professor Bucci, further enriching his experience and knowledge. 

Throughout his professional career, doctor Cupo has dedicated time to scientific research in the field of ophthalmology. Until 2015, he was a researcher at the IRCCS Bietti Foundation in Ophthalmology, actively contributing to the advancement of knowledge in this discipline. Since 2015, he has focused all his efforts on the practice of ophthalmology at the Campus Biomedico University Hospital in Rome. His main focus has been utilizing cutting-edge technology to provide his patients with fast, safe, and painless surgical solutions.  

Dr Gaetano Cupo is a distinguished member of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the Italian Ophthalmological Society, the Italian Glaucoma Society, and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. 

In addition to his remarkable work in the field of ophthalmology, he has gained recognition throughout Italy through numerous appearances on national television. Through these media platforms, he has successfully disseminated information and raised awareness about the importance of ocular care and the prevention of visual diseases.  

Since 2022 he has been awarded by the President of the Italian Republic with the title of “Knight of Italian Republic”.
